The need
Custom work begins with details, not a fixed checkout price.
The structured request keeps product, quantity, timing, design, size, and reference information together for owner review.

Creative Lex is a completed live client project: a branded, responsive customer website and a connected owner system for handling custom requests, products, pricing, content, and site settings.

Customer Experience
The live customer experience gives Creative Lex a clear branded destination and moves custom work into a structured request path.
Customer request → owner quote → accurate record
The system collects the real job details first, gives the owner room to review and agree on a quote, then preserves that agreed value with the order.
The need
The structured request keeps product, quantity, timing, design, size, and reference information together for owner review.
Protected owner system · Live
Orders, products, prices, website content, and appropriate settings stay manageable through the protected owner system without implying unrestricted developer access.
The need
The owner can search, organize, review, and maintain the working record of custom-order activity, including the agreed quote when established.
Problem → solution
A structured custom-request experience gathers the information needed for useful review and quoting.

01 · Business
Creative Lex already made custom apparel and gifts; the project began by organizing how customers could understand and request that work.
A similar problem, not a copied system
Hands in the Smoke would not copy the Creative Lex system onto another business. The work starts with your customer journey, your day-to-day responsibilities, and the smallest useful system that fits them.

The challenge and direction
Custom work does not fit a simple fixed-product checkout. A request may include multiple products, designs, sizes, quantities, reference images, and a price that is agreed after review. The owner also needed to keep the public site current while preserving the details and agreed amount attached to earlier orders.
Give customers a professional place to browse custom apparel and gifts, see starting prices, and submit a detailed request. Give the owner direct control over routine products, prices, photos, content, settings, and order handling without depending on a developer for every update.
The customer experience
The live site presents Creative Lex, its custom products, and starting-price context without turning quote-based work into a generic store checkout.
Customers can move from the public experience into one organized request that keeps product, quantity, timing, design, size, and reference details together.

The owner’s system
I built the customer-facing site and the owner-side business system as two connected parts. Customers get responsive product presentation, starting prices, clear calls to action, and a mobile-friendly custom-request flow. The owner gets Orders, Products & prices, Website Content, and Website Settings. Products can be renamed, described, photographed, priced, reordered, marked available or unavailable, and published, hidden, or archived. Public menu labels, website copy, galleries, and search settings are editable. Each request can store an agreed quote, and later product-price changes do not overwrite the amount already agreed for an earlier order.
The protected owner system provides business-level control without implying unrestricted developer access. Agreed quotes remain attached to their orders when current catalog pricing changes.

Important decisions and lessons
The public experience and owner system were designed as connected parts. The request gathers the real scope first; the owner reviews it, records the agreed quote, and keeps that value historically accurate.
Owner control is intentionally focused on routine business work: products, visibility, ordering, public content, and appropriate site settings.
Where the project stands
The finished system is live at creativelexcustomco.com and usable by the business. Customers have one clear place to understand the work and send the details needed for a quote. The owner can manage day-to-day products, pricing, availability, content, settings, and requests directly, while historical orders keep the information and agreed amounts that belonged to them.
